30 March 2015

The Nett Cup came to an end yesterday evening, with 119 cards played with just over 50 people playing over the weekend. Conditions yesterday (Sunday) were still difficult. They were pretty much the same as Saturday. With the rain cleared away early in the morning, the wind was still blowing hard out on the course. Players were adamant to get out on the course and get the scores in. Despite the weather the scores started coming in and soon it was clear what the cut off would be for the playoff. Qualifying scores weren't continued into the playoff , which meant everyone was starting off fresh and was fair on all players. The playoff kicked off with the 12 players going into battle. The wind was still strong and made conditions difficult, but never the less the players kept going and showed their skill. The scores started coming in and we're all close. After the cards were checked and clarified we knew the winner of the very first Nett Cup at Claycastle Pitch & Putt Club. Congratulations to Ryan Hennessy from Claycastle who brought in a 49 Nett to take first place. There was 2 other winners from Claycastle Don Sheehan & Dave Hankard. The other winners were Justin Mc Carthy, Martin Keohane, Brian Barry, Lorraine Troy and James Fleming. Congratulations to all prize winners.

Claycastle Pitch & Putt Club would like to sincerely thank Youghal Credit Union for their kind sponsorship for the Nett Cup. It was great-fully appreciated and many thanks once again. There is so many people that the club would like to thank for their help in organising and running the Nett Cup. Instead of naming people individually we would like to thank everyone that helped in some way or another to make this competition possible. But most importantly we would like to say a big thank you to all the players that played. Conditions weren't the best but never the less ye battled the elements and supported the club. Thanks once again and we would like to wish ye every success in yer pitch and putt for the future. Hopefully we'll meet ye during the year at other events.
